In the last ten years or so the number of websites has grown rapidly on the Internet. Along with this growth comes a corresponding need for newer, more effective and more professional marketing techniques that utilize social media and the expectations of Web 2.0 users.

People in the current age do not have the patience to read long articles consisting of only text. They are more attracted to seeing something rather than reading about it. Thus came the birth of video marketing.

Video Tactics

What are the tactics used by video marketing companies to draw hordes of viewers their sites? Usually, these sites have a link taking the viewer to the actual website, thereby increasing traffic to them. YouTube is now one of the mostĀ  popular websites on the ‘net. No charges areĀ  levied for this. This process is just a matter of creating a video to be put on air and in this way they plan to attract the maximum number of viewers to their website.

Word Of Mouth

This has become a very important concept in the field of marketing as it attracts more traffic to the targeted websites. You will find that videos that go online have become even more effective than those that are put on air. Such video marketing websites provide links that help to connect to the targeted website and thus are able to gather a huge target audience. People who view them pass on the video links to their friends and relatives through email or messenger. Thus the target audience is widened.

Two Types

Videos used for website marketing are of two types. There are short videos which last for a duration of one or two minutes. These take you on a whirlwind tour of the entire site in a matter of minutes. Longer ones can give lengthy explanations as to how to use the site in question and help customers to understand procedures and give guidelines as to how to navigate throughout the site. To be effective these videos should be placed in a strategic place within the site so that they are easily noticed by visitors.

Seeing Is Believing

Video bears out old sayings such as “seeing is believing” and “a picture is worth a thousand words”. They attract crowds of interested viewers who are well known nowadays to have relatively short attention spans. The more action and movement, the more popular they are but even the dullest are preferable to today’s audience than pages of the written word. Statistics show that video marketing has a fifty per cent share of the online marketing field. YouTube is found to be responsible for twelve per cent of it.

Video Statistics

Another important feature of video marketing is that the investor can reach a massive audience with just a very minimal investment and this automatically enhances his return on investment. Going into a little statistical data by Interactive Advertising Bureau, it’s likely that above half of the American population with access to a computer and the Internet will view videos online in the coming year. That’s already a big percentage number, not to mention the fact that it’s growing every year.
