Marketing With Twitter

Welcome back!  Have you subscribed to our RSS feed yet? Anyway, thanks for visiting.

Foreword By The Editor

Many thanks are due to Meagan Gray for the following article about Twitter marketing. In it she advocates Twitter as a strong social networking tool that is under-utilized in the present-day business environment. Business communications are a vital facet of the modern marketing mix and their importance is set to grow as time goes by. This is largely due to the ubiquity of the internet and its presence in every area of modern life.

Listening And Tweeting

More and more companies are using Twitter to do market analysis, brand advocacy, reputation management, and to highlight relevant conferences and events. Twitter allows them to broaden their brand name and thus generate new opportunities. The Twitter platform was initially intended for short conversations between individuals but a growing number of organizations have started to actively participate within its network. However, not all firms are using Twitter in exactly the same way. Some are tweeting, some are just listening, but a select few (really knowledgeable companies) are doing both.

Public Tweelations

Some firms use Twitter as a public relations channel; a sort of extension to their business blogs. They submit tweets about corporate achievements and send out links which take visitors to their web pages, press releases, and other associated sites. Twitter may be used to direct people to websites, to announce information that’s helpful to potential clients or employers and to improve a company’s reputation. It allows you discuss the latest news and events related to your business in 140 characters or less. Or set up a Twitter feed with the sole objective of notifying customers when new information is posted on their blog. You should also utilize this free platform to advise event participants and to emphasize what is upcoming and otherwise of particular importance to them. Discussing beneficial information and useful tips will help you build a strong web presence and achieve a high degree of visibility on the web.

Some companies that use Twitter allow their workers to tweet under the company banner as well. Since the workers make use of Twitter to improve their own individual reputations, the company’s status is likewise enhanced. Employees twittering away with excitement about their work, advancements in their industry, new products, or other useful tidbits, whether or not related to the organization itself, can promote positive feelings for whichever company they represent. One more good reason for having workers tweet rather than the business itself is if the company wants to be seen as hiring influential leaders.

The Immediacy Of Twittering

Twitter lets you respond quickly to shut down any impending service that’s going off the rails or to respond without delay to any complaints received. Through it, you can connect effectively with each of your clients and ask for honest opinions. It also makes your goals public to force you to get through them. You can even study the tweets of your competitors daily and stay in touch with them. Although this seldom happens in real life, Twitter has improved it all. This free platform allows you to follow businesses, specialists, leaders and competitors in your industry. It is not sufficient to observe the latest projects released by your competition. Tracking their mistakes is much more useful, since you can analyze their techniques and see what exactly went wrong and what they are still doing wrong.

With Twitter, it is possible to always stay in touch with your followers. All these individuals are potential prospects, so you must help them get accustomed to your products and services. Play a part actively by conversing and tweeting constantly. That way, an increasingly number of people will soon become familiar with your business, while you will get a lot of devoted customers. If your business is considering moving into Twitter, it’s best not to do so lightly. The truth is that developing a strategy is a lot more complicated than the examples outlined above.
